As Spiritual Teachers in Ascension Mastery and Soul Psychology we can share that there are many elements in life that affect the student of Ascension in terms of “Raising Consciousness” that a “normal” or “regular” person would never have cause to consider. Halloween is one such subject. It presents specific elements of energy dynamics. Below we include a spiritual tool to help.
If you grew up before the 1980’s you had a more genteel experience of the modern day version of Samhain (the Gaelic origin name of the Halloween holiday which is pronounced SOW-in” or “SAH-win”). Unlike the original Gaelic tradition, childhood memories of the festivities very much resembled the beloved 1966 prime time family cartoon It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
And while the cartoon has survived and gone on to continue bringing joy and giggles to many generation’s of children (and a large does of relatable empathy and compassion for Charlie Brown’s attempts to create a good Halloween costume and participate in the ritual of fall football), the holiday itself has changed quite significantly over the decades.
The Gaelic Irish and Scottish peoples believed that the night of October 31st into November 1st, happening at the time of the year when the change of season marked the end of the harvest, was also the time when the veil between the seen and unseen was thinnest. Fairies (aos sí) and many otherworldly spirits were free to cross over into the human world.
It was a time that was taken very seriously, as one’s ancestors could return, so much so that places were set for them at the table. Gifts would be left out to appease the fairies and avoid any mischief they might be planning to cause. As bad or evil spirits could also venture forth into the land of the living, many serious a believer would even wear a “guise” to the evening festival of the lighting of the bonfire which consisted of masking or hiding their face so the unwanted spirits would not be able to recognize them. It was common in some areas to try and scare away the dark spirits by carving turnips and other root vegetables so that they were hollowed out and displayed with grotesque faces on them.
Festivities involved celebrating the harvest foods (and the fermented drink made from them) while attending the bonfire gathering places, a place of light in the dark. Hearth fires were extinguished and relighted from the brands of the bonfire to bring the harvest light into the home for the coming months of less sunlight.
From these traditions Halloween became about pumpkin carving (and lighting), costumes and trick-or-treating to gather “foods”.
For us in our time, even though the church made November 1st All Saints Day a Holy day, and November 2nd All Souls Day, to carry on a tradition of secular sacredness during this time of year, two things happened in the modern western world that set the stage for Halloween to take on a sharp increase in its dark side traits.
The first was that before 1968 Hollywood actually had a set of censorship rules that endeavored to keep things more conventionally “moral” for the viewers (think epics like The Ten Commandments that told a story of good and evil without depicting much evil). But with censorship comes a lack of personal choice, and more importantly, a lack of trust in what one is being shown, as viewers in the late 1960 were also being shown TV news coverage of war for the first time (named as the “living room war” by some commentators) that shared the “truth” they were originally not being told about the conflict. Thus in part, the MPAA ratings system was created so that viewers, not Hollywood, could choose what they felt was proper or improper for them or their families to watch.
The second was the mainstream release of films that paved the way for slasher or gore horror movies, a trend that started only a decade later in 1978 with the movie Halloween, a film that while it was groundbreaking in it’s use of psychological suspense and fright over gore and graphic violence, is now considered somewhat tame by comparison to today’s current levels of on screen vividness. Nevertheless, it started a trend of seeing how much the viewer could be scared.
The Spiritual Implications of our Modern Halloween
What this all means is that anyone born in the decades of 1980 or after has grown up accepting this newer version of the Halloween holiday. And with constant exposure to extreme on-screen experiences of gore and violence, comes a necessary form of psychological distancing, at least in terms of the subconsciousness. Meaning one tells themselves, “Well, it’s okay. Being fake frightened is just harmless fun right, no one ever really gets hurt from it.”
Spiritually speaking this rationalization is a misconception.
First, consider that studies on human physiology demonstrate that during highly engaging movies, the brain can activate the same neural pathways associated with empathy and emotion that it does in real life situations. It might not be the same exact response as real life, but it can be very similar enough such that the psychological impact is similar. This means that the subconscious, let alone the waking consciousness, can be negatively impacted in an unhealthy manner.
Second, consider that your spiritual self is a form of intelligence that is very analogous to your physical intelligence. Your spiritual self, like your physical self, is very much a product of “what you eat is what you are”, meaning your spiritual self needs sustenance. Such a concept has always been held as fact by religious adepts of many formal traditions. And it is even more applicable to those who are striving to raise their spiritual vibration to be of a higher quality of light and love frequency, as students of Ascension Mastery are doing.
Dr. Joshua David Stone (now Ascended Master Joshua Stone), always shared that many individuals who desire to follow a spiritual path of the caliber of Ascension Mastery often forget the role they personally play in making spiritual progress. His view was a departure from the more traditional religious approach of many who are sincerely God conscious individuals, meaning the bulk of spiritual work is about being a good moral person and praying for assistance. Instead Master Joshua reminds us of that “sustenance” and what we are “putting” into our consciousness is very much our own responsibility:
Our modern day Halloween could be mostly fine for anyone, just as it once was, if we did not live in a big wide modern world where most everyone’s consciousness now reverberates with the very real energies of horrific images and non-God-centric characters of the darkest nature known to humankind. Not only that, for many individual such “sustenance” is as a totally acceptable form of entertainment and even great for imitation.
God Consciousness Energy as Sustenance
Reverberation of energies is a fact of life for those seeking to elevate their vibratory level of consciousness. For example, in the fifth dimensional level of existence, a reality where there are no lower forms of negativity or harshness, no one would even think (or dream) of lowering their energies into a place of accepting evil or fear inducing thought-forms, let alone go out of their way to create them in their reality through movies or costumes “just for fun”. In our communications with the beings of Telos and the Agartha Network it is quite clear doing so would be unimaginable, as they have already spent thousands of years learning how to hold a higher level of consciousness as compared to humanity, and would never act to undo that accomplishment.
Which means that for high spiritually guided individuals, the modern day Halloween energies are not always assistive to personally seek out. Energetically speaking, it is similar to being a matter of “show me who your friends are and I can tell what caliber a person you are”. If one is placing themselves into crowds of people that are not being aware of the deeper implications of the spiritual self and how the outside energies affect that love/light quotient, then it is more probable that such a person is not seeing the 50/50 connection that Master Joshua shared. Protecting ones light quotient is a responsibility that normal everyday people do not consider.
Every situation is unique of course but in today’s world there is indeed an overhanging “darkness” that acts to increase the negative energetics of our society. Some would say that it is at a crucial point when God Consciousness is needed more than ever. Many things are happening right now that, in many ways, take us right back to a more Gaelic interpretation of the holiday. Their beliefs in the concept of the veil between the worlds thinning during the week of Halloween was truly not a fantasy, and for us today as individuals desiring to be spiritual holders of higher love/light consciousness in Oneness, the reminder to hold God Consciousness foremost does apply more than ever. We are “what we do” energetically speaking, which means the places we go and those around us really do matter.
During Halloween and the days leading up to it, the forces in the unseen world of lost spirits and the misguided not-God-conscious souls that still desire a 3d reality, including those Master Joshua shared as being from the unseen non-earth origin, very much desire humanity to fall into a dark reality. They are very pleased with the energies of dystopian movies and dark films/shows.
If These Unwanted Energies are Pervasive, What Can One Do?
Obviously Dr. Stone’s writings are going to assist with a deeper understanding of the energetics of Ascension and the ability to create more spiritual alignment, protection and building the light body. And we absolutely believe our vibratory approach to his work creates an even more powerful way to receive the higher spiritual energies.
Yet one tool we know works quite well is to consciously (by your own choice) invoke your personal Solar Angel and the Angelic Realms to assist you daily. In vibratory terms, the choice of words matter because they carry an energetic history and a specificity. So we recommend the following invocation be used as often as needed to “feed” your consciousness with this pure level of God-Source reality. (It is stated aloud). Archangel Michael in his role as one of the greatest protection Angels shared this wording with us:

Within the Spirit of the Soul, and my I AM Presence, I call upon my Solar Angel and the Angelic Realm of Angels and Archangels, to continually, moment by moment, for all of eternity, clear and protect me from all interfering substance that is not of my God Consciousness. So mote it be. Let it be done. I Am that I Am. I Am that I Am. I Am that I Am.

The time of Halloween is by very nature a perfect moment to use the thinning of the veil to your advantage spiritually! This means while TV and advertisements inundate you with “fun” images and thought-forms, you can use Ascension Mastery Meditations and Invokations to not only counteract those energies, but tap into an opportunity to create more for yourself spiritually due to the temporary opening tht occurs to make the higher energies of God Consciousness more accessible!
